Welcome to LSC1, come in and join the fun in the Squirrels class.

Our first topic of the year is 'Food Glorious Good'.  We have learnt about healthy and unhealthy foods, where our food comes from and how it gets from the farm to our forks.  We visited Streamvale Farm in Dundonald, and we got to see where our milk and eggs.  We also learned about how a farmer milks their cows and it was cool!

In our classroom, we have a calm corner filled with fidget toys and weighted blankets that stay within the tent that makes our calm corner.  We have access to a Sensory Room which helps us to feel relaxed and feel that we are ready to learn.  We really love our classroom, and we get to do fun activities including painting, playing with sand, and building amazing creations with LEGO.

In Numeracy, we are revising numbers up to 20 and we are learning to do tricky addition as well.  We are singing songs 5 Little Speckled Frongs and 10 Little Monkeys Jumping On The Bed to help us with our numeracy.  We watch different apps, programmes and videos that help us to learn and understand mathematical concepts.

In Literacy, we are practising our letter sounds, tricky words and reading stories.  We love to read in our class, and we enjoy shared reading with our peers using Big Books and Bug Club.  We are working hard on our handwriting and enjoy writing about our 'Weekend News'.

Outside, we get to play in the junior playground which has a pirate ship climbing frame, and bikes and trikes!  We are looking forward to getting into our 'Secret Garden' so we can plant the different vegetables that we have been learning about.  The lights in the Sensory Room are so calming but we also like to work up a sweat in P.E.  Our favourite games to play are Dodgeball, Cops and Robbers and Duck, Duck, Goose.
