Welcome to P1!

Primary One have settled so well into their new classroom and into the daily routines of P1! We have enjoyed playing outdoors on our bikes and trikes and exploring early mark making with our chalks! In Numeracy, we love exploring Numcion which is our core resource used in class! It is even more fun when the Numicon gets lost in shaving foam! The best fun in numeracy is singing our number songs whilst acting them out!

In World Around Us, we are focusing on “a time to rhyme.” We are learning about Wee Willie Winkie, discussing safety of candles in the home, and comparing our nightwear to now and then! During Play-Based Learning (PBL) we made our own candles using toilet rolls, tinfoil, bun cases and tissue! We have even more fun acting out Wee Willie Winkie and dressing up in our pyjamas! In the afternoons we take part in “Nurture in 5”; this is a wonderful quiet time of the day when we get to experience stretches, breathing, hands on massage and mindfulness to help us deal with our emotions when things can get a little too much for us!
