Nurture
Welcome to the Rainbow Room. A unique space that is home to small groups of children from the Foundation Stage and Key Stage One. Our room is set up to be similar to the environment children have at home with a kitchen area, living area, play area and there is also a learning area.
The Rainbow Room provides a safe space for children to learn about feelings, develop communication and social skills, and to learn about resilience. Our children learn in the way, that best suits them. We help develop self-regulation skills, empathy and support their peer relationships. Our aim is to support children in our school to be happy and confident so that they can achieve their full potential.
We have been working on our attention and listening skills, doing experiments and learning how to self-regulate through sensory experiences. We have also been working on our reading and writing skills in the learning area.
The children work hard on developing confidence, self-esteem and how to express their emotions and needs to the best of their abilities. They have been learning about Growth Mindset and working on resilience becoming more self-reliant and organised. Eventually, children will transition back into their mainstream classroom having developed their social skills and making new friendship groups.
We are always so proud of how much progress each child has made after they have been in the Rainbow Room.
